Now a safety app for women, named 'Guardian' launched by Microsoft

Guardian app from MicrosoftA new application 'Guardian' has been launched today by technology giant Microsoft with safety features, especially for Windows Phone consumers. Guardian's working principle allows users to switch on a 'track me' feature in the application that lets family and friends track them in real-time. This uses Microsoft Windows Azure cloud services and Bing Map APIs, as stated by the company. 



Through 'SOS' alert button, Guardian users can call for help and also connect to security agencies, police and hospitals easily via this application in times of crises.  The company also added, that for developing this safety app, it took a period of about six months for a team of Microsoft employees in the Microsoft Garage at India. Microsoft Garage is a global employee initiative, that imparts an outlet to Microsoft employees in exploring their ideas.

Our employees wanted to do something to enable people to feel safer in our cities. So they used their spare time to develop Guardian. It is a robust personal security app with more safety features and capabilities than any other comparable app available to Indian smartphone users today", while addressing reporters after launch of this App.
