HP today declared a new line of “voice tablets” with 6-inch and 7-inch display screens in India. The firm plans to introduce these devices in coming February.
These devices will be marking HP's return to the smartphone market after it slashed out the customer device world in 2011. The Company then bounced back into the tablet market, but chief executive Meg Whitman had stated earlier in october 2012 that the company was taking its time on phone segment.
The new devices Slate6 VoiceTab and Slate7 Voice Tab are capable of displaying high-definition videos, take High Definition pictures with front- and rear-facing cameras and have front-facing speakers.
The major accent of this annoucement is the interest that manufacturers have shown in making phone-tablet hybrids to appeal the consumers.
Ron Coughlin the senior vice president of Consumer Personal Systems Group for HP said that, “Consumers are looking to consolidate their phones and tablets, which is propelling the voice tablet market."
These phone-tablet hybrids, often referred as "Phablets", are rapidly gaining ground as people use their phones more for watching video and surfing the Web than making calls.

According to the claims by a Yahoo news (Japanese version) article, Apple is going to launch large-screen smartphones this year. The article stated about the launching of new series large sized iPhones with screen sizes around 5.7 inch or more. Thereby, bringing Apple in the league of large screen phablets segment.
Also, these largescreen iPhones will be a unlike series altogether, as 'iPhone 6' is rebuked for the september release.There is an expectation that these phablets will be powered by the current A7 chipset, employed in the iPhone 5S, spurning the rumoured A8 chipset.
Also, there were rumours that Apple will be introducing large screen smartphones along with a 12.9-inch tablet. That Apple was appraising the prospect of stranding the 11-inch MacBook Air with a larger iPad. However, Apple didn't comment on these rumours. If these rumours come up as true, it will be fascinating to see how the Apple handles the large screen smartphones/phablets , which is overshadowed by the Android-based devices.

HTC recently launched its latest phablet, the One Max (16GB variant) in India. This One Max Phablet was revealed by its Taiwanese manufacturer in October this year. It is priced at an MRP of Rs.61,490 and a best buy price of Rs. 56,490 in India.
This gadget runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box with HTC's Sense 5.5 UI on top.The phablet comes with a 5.9-inch full-HD LCD display.
The Phablet is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor associated with 2GB of RAM. If we talk about its storage capacity, it comes with 16GB of inbuilt strorage with support of additional external storage upto 64GB via microSD card. It features HTC's UltraPixel rear camera, while there is also a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera onboard. Also supports HTC Zoe and HTC BoomSound features,which were first seen on the HTC One.
HTC One Max supports connectivity features consisting 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, DLNA and HTC Connect. This device packs a 3300mAh battery which can give up to 25 hours of talktime and 585 hours of standby time for 3G networks. HTC One Max weighs 217 grams and measures 164.5x82.5x10.29mm.

Fetch keychain is the another accessory announced for the HTC One Max at a price of Rs. 2399. Users can press the button on the keychain, and the device activates their phones' ringtone within 15 metres. Pairing it will give users a warning beep if they leave their smartphones behind, and a map location feature is also present. HTC One Max users will also get 50GB free additional cloud storage space on Google Drive.
